“When I dropped Skid off at Mark’s I left a huge list of all his problems.  This was very amusing to Mark.  I was not comfortable riding or handling him on the ground.  He was very spooky and had kicked a friend of mine who was working with him. His real problem was lack of training; somehow he had managed to reach the ripe old age of 5 and had not been taught anything.  Mark had to start at the beginning and spend a lot of time on the basics.  I’m impressed with the way Mark works with horses. He is very patient and I have never seen him lose his temper. What I really appreciate about Mark was how he got me involved in the training process.  I was able to learn how to work with Skid and communicate in a way that he could understand.  I gained confidence in my riding skills and in my horse.  I feel like I can take him home and we can continue to make progress.

I have a great horse, that I am comfortable with and I have Mark to thank for that.

Andrea and her Horse “Jessi“

“When I took my mare to Mark, she was three and very fresh. I had put her in a round pen and ran her around a little, but had not done much work with her. I told Mark I wanted a well broke horse that not only I could ride, but also my young daughter could ride and feel safe on.  Mark was very patient and extremely kind with us and the horse! We were able to watch a few sessions and he was great with explaining exactly what he was doing and what he was accomplishing. Mark also allowed us to come ride with him, and helped us understand his techniques and cues he taught her. Today, “Jessi”, our mare, is AMAZING! She responds very well and does always what we ask. I am very pleased with how far she has come and what a wonderful job Mark has done with her.”

E-mail from her October 18, 2011~ “We went on a little ride the other day and a friend snapped a few pictures unfortunately they were laughing to hard to get the shot of JT laying down in the deep pool of water we were going through. Guess he has had enough of dry hot Colorado!!! We had a good ride then did some transitions on the flat and I was reminded of the great foundation you put on him.  I thought trot, canter right lead, canter left lead, trot, whoa I was so happy and singing praises of this little horse and his trainer because he did every request without worry of where the other horses were, what  direction we were going or what gate was being requested.”
